St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange held fire extinguisher training for staff on Thursday, Oct. 6. La Grange Fire Chief Frank Menefee along with members of the La Grange Fire Department conducted the training. Hospital facilities director Mel Burgess said St. Mark’s schedules the training every other year to refresh staff members with the use of a fire extinguisher. Fire department members filled a vat with fuel and then lit it on fire. Menefee walked each staff member through the process of using a fire extinguisher. The trainees then used the extinguisher to put out the fire. Hospital CEO Mark Kimball, who also underwent the exercise (pictured below right), said most of the hospital staff participated in the training on Thursday.
