The Fayette County Com- Local Actors Will Portray Roles from Cleopatra to Jane Austen

munity Theatre (FCCT) and the Texas Quilt Museum will present “Fight Like a Girl” April 11 and 12 at the museum located at 140 South Colorado in La Grange.

Through a series of dynamic monologues this production tells the tale of female rebels, pioneers, outsiders, and changemakers.

“It is the story of women throughout history who may have not made the history books,” says Melanie Lira who portrays Grace O’Malley. “My character’s monologue talks about being erased from history and being buried under a man’s story.” Eighteen local actors will perform as Cleopatra, Jane Austen and Nellie Bly as well as other notable women scientists, suffragists, athletes, artists, warriors, and many more.

Written by a collection of contemporary playwrights, FCCT’s executive director and director of the production Heather Barthelme states, “We are so excited to bring these stories to life of women who have inspired, impacted, and improved our world throughout history.”

Showtimes will be Saturday April 11 at 6 p.m. and Sunday, April 12 at 2 p.m. Ticket prices are $25 and are for sale in person at the FCCT Box Office and Studio at 120 South Washington Street in La Grange, or online at www.faycotheatre. com. The Box Office is open Tuesday through Friday 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
