Fayette Electric Cooperative plans to build a new headquarters on Von Minden Rd. in La Grange with a move in date set for June of next year.

The FEC board of directors began discussing the need for a new headquarters in 2019. In February of this year, the board approved construction plans for a 21,000 square foot office space with an additional 12,000 square foot warehouse.

“Moving from the decades- old current building, originally built in 1964, into a modern one will improve operational and organizational efficiencies within the cooperative, including better customer service for members and retention, recruitment and training of cooperative employees,” the cooperative said in a press release this week.

The new headquarters will be quite an upgrade from the 8,000 sq. ft. office and 9,000 sq. ft. warehouse located near downtown La Grange on N. Washington St.

“The cooperative currently employs 41 people and could use more employees but there literally is no other place to put them,” the press release stated.

The new location will be adjacent to FEC’s pole yard on Von Minden Rd. FEC said it has no plans for the existing headquarters.
