The City of Fayetteville is holding a town hall meeting on Tuesday, Dec.16 from 6-7:15 p.m. at the Fayetteville Community Center and Performance Theater. The open discussion will focus on the proposed short-term rental ordinance. All are welcome to attend.

Deputy Santa 

All children deserve toys under the tree. Register an eligible child or donate a toy at the office of our Justice of the Peace in the square for Deputy Santa, a program run by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office. The office is open Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Toys are for kids aged 12 or under.

The cut off is Monday, Dec. 15 at 12 p.m. Monetary donations are also welcome and will be used to purchase additional toys for the kiddos.

Country Christmas 

The 28th Annual Fayetteville Country Christmas and Home Tour is this Saturday. The addresses and photos of homes on the tour were all listed on the front page of the Weekend section of the Fayette County Record in last Friday’s issue. So many activities to look forward to, from the parade to hayrides, storytelling, Christmas goodies and live music.

Christmas Tree Display The 7th Annual Fayetteville Christmas Tree Display & Contest is open to the public every evening from 5:3-8:30 p.m. through Christmas. Remember that this Friday is the very last day to vote for your favorite trees and wreaths. Enjoy the Sip and Stroll. Hot chocolate will be served up by the Hot Chocolate Chicks for a freewill donation.

McCowen Village 

The McCowen Village is one of the major highlights of the Fayetteville Christmas Tree Display. “The elaborate, miniature-scale village is proudly displayed this year in memory of Yvonne McCowen, our beloved village donor whom we recently lost,” stated contest founder Janice Wasut. “Yvonne and her husband Bob have done such an amazing job setting up the village in previous years. Hugo’s 1876 (the former Wine Bar at the Grand Fayette) is now extra festive, extending its repertoire to include a full bar. The group of bluegrass musicians are picking and singing at Picking Park on the square this Saturday. Enjoy them along with all the festivities going on at Country Christmas.

St. Paul Lutheran Church St. Paul Lutheran holds services on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. Services are recorded every week, rotating among four Shared Lutheran Ministry churches and posted on the Facebook page for the Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County. Services are also featured on KTIM 89.1 Sundays at noon.

St. John the Baptist Catholic St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville holds Mass Saturdays at 6 p.m., and Sundays at 10 a.m.

St. Mary Catholic Church St. Mary Catholic Church in Ellinger holds Mass on Saturdays at 4 p.m. and Sunday’s at 8 a.m.

Fayetteville Brethren 

Worship services at Fayetteville Brethren are held on the second, third and fourth Saturday of every month at 10 a.m. An adult Bible Study is held before the worship service from 9 - 9:45 a.m.
