Fayette Ringed by Cost of Living Extremes

Two of the most expensive cities in the nation for a night out are within driving distance from Fayette County, but so is one of the cheapest – that’s according to a recent study conducted by the price-monitoring website PriceListo.com.

The experts at PriceListo collected cost-of-living data from each US city with a population exceeding 500,000 to find out the average price of a cocktail, cab fare (three-mile journey), a bottle of wine, and a pint of beer. In addition, data was analyzed from the hotel site Vio and to discover the median price for a one-night stay in a budget hotel for each city. The price of each category was then added together to discover an overall cost.

Austin and Houston were among the top-ten most expensive cities. Austin ranked number three at $221.23. Houston was number nine at $209.54. Thankfully, locals who want an affordable night out can head west to San Antonio for some big savings. The Alamo City ranked as the second most affordable cities in the nation for a night out at $134.56. The only more affordable city was Las Vegas, Nevada, thanks to it being home to the cheapest hotels in the country.

The experts at PriceListo found that San Antonio offered the cheapest cocktails in the nation, averaging just $8. Dallas, on the other hand, had the most expensive cocktails, averaging $25.
