Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Sexual Assaults
Sheriff’s Report
Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports activities of Fayette County Sheriff Deputies for the month of July. Detective Marc Bennett is actively investigating several sexual assault cases which occurred in Fayette County. Several cases are being presented to a grand jury for indictment. Sgt. Ron Naumann responded to a domestic disturbance in which a male subject refused to travel any further with a female subject and two children. Parties were separated and no charges were filed. Sgt. Ryan Meagher stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. After further investigation, the driver and sole occupant was found to be a felon on parole for aggravated robbery. The driver was found to be in possession of narcotics and two loaded firearms. The driver was arrested. Meagher also stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation in which the driver was found to be in possession of cocaine and was arrested. Deputy Terry Guentert met with a subject in the lobby of the Sheriff’s Office in reference to lost property. A report was taken. Guentert also took report of mailbox damage which occurred in the Dubina area. Guentert was able to track down the subject that struck the mailbox using a license plate which was left at the scene of the ac- cident. Deputy Herman Olvera was dispatched to FM 957 near the Lavaca County line in reference to a stranded motorist. After further investigation, a male subject was taken into custody for public intoxication.
Deputy Austin Moore stopped a vehicle in the Flatonia area. After further investigation, three occupants were arrested for tampering with physical evidence with intent to impair. Narcotics and a large sum of money were also located inside the vehicle. Moore stopped a vehicle in the Schulenburg area. During the stop, an occupant from the vehicle fled from Moore on foot. Moore pursued the subject and a taser was deployed. Moore was able to safely get the subject in custody. The subject had an active warrant through Fayette County for aggravated robbery. The subject received several new charges including failure to identify, evading arrest and possession of a controlled substance.
Deputy James Ulbig was dispatched to a suspicious male walking in the road near Janssen Ln. After further investigation, the male subject was located and placed into custody for public intoxication. Ulbig took a report of fence damage that occurred in the Kirtley area in which a report was taken.
Deputy Duane Meagher was dispatched to a residence on Lidiak Rd. in reference to a domestic disturbance. A male subject, who is a convicted felon, was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and a firearm. Inside the residence, Deputies located several different types of narcotics and a stolen motorcycle. The male was arrested. Deputy Duane Meagher also attempted to stop a vehicle on Scott’s School Rd. for a traffic violation. The driver disregarded Meagher’s emergency lights and sirens and fled from him. Meagher pursued the vehicle and the pursuit entered the city limits of Flatonia the suspect then rear ended a vehicle and the driver was taken into custody. No injuries were reported.
Detective Kenn Kretz assisted the Austin Police Department vehicle theft task force by locating and recovering a stolen Jeep in the La Grange area. Deputy Joe Gonzales assisted in a pursuit that entered Fayette County involving a vehicle that was reported stole out of Houston. Gonzales was able to deploy stop sticks which were successful in deflating the vehicles tired ending the pursuit. One subject was taken into custody.
Gonzales responded to the Kirtley area in reference to a child that was running on the side of the road. The child was located and released to the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office to be released to his guardians.
Deputy Michael Krenek responded to an address in reference to a burglary. A report was taken and a suspect was developed. The case remains under investigation. Krenek was also dispatched to Hruska’s in regards to a shop lifter. The suspect fled the scene with hundreds of dollars of stolen merchandise. The subject was located by Smithville Police and was taken into custody by Deputy Krenek for several charges. Deputy Holly Smith was dispatched to an address in the La Grange area in reference to a theft. A report was taken and the case was forwarded to Investigations. Smith was also dispatched to the Muldoon area in reference to criminal mischief. An information report was taken. Smith also assisted the Schulenburg Police Department with a vehicle pursuit.
Deputy Seth Nagel responded to an address in Ledbetter in reference to a death inquest of an elderly female. Nagel stopped a vehicle in which the driver was found to be in possession of cocaine and was arrested. Nagel attempted to stop a vehicle in the La Grange area. The vehicle fled from Nagel and a pursuit ensued. The vehicle was spiked by Bastrop County Deputies and one male subject was taken into custody. Deputy Lee Phillips took a report of an assault which occurred in the Fayetteville area. Phillips was dispatched to an address near Rutersville area in reference to estray cattle. The estray process was completed and the cattle were impounded at the Flatonia Livestock Barn. Phillips also took a report of threats which occurred at a business near La Grange.
Deputy Dustin Kieschnick took a call of a young bull calf that had been struck by a vehicle which left the scene. Kieschnick was assisted by citizens and was able to load the injured calf onto a trailer to be sent to receive treatment.
Jail Administrator Ed Sawyer reports that Fayette County Correction Officers booked in 62 individuals for the month of July. Sawyer reports that the Jail Staff transported six individuals to Texas Department of Criminal Justice Facilities throughout the State to being serving their sentences for crimes committed in Fayette County.
