Fayette County Sheriff’s Department Investigating Sexual Assault Cases
Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports activities of Fayette County Sheriff Deputies for the month of June.
Detective Marc Bennett is working several sexual assault cases one of which is a 13 year old who was arrested and sent to the Victoria County Juvenile Center.
Sgt. Ron Naumann took a burglary report which occurred in the Round Top area. Naumann also took a theft report which occurred at a business near Fayetteville.
Sgt. Angela Lala assisted with a juvenile sex crimes case in which a child was detained at the Victoria County Juvenile Center. CPS is also investigating this incident.
Sgt. Ryan Meagher stopped a vehicle in the Schulenburg area. The passenger was found to be in possession of a stolen handgun and was arrested. Meagher also stopped a vehicle in the Ledbetter area. The driver was found to be in possession of crack cocaine and was arrested.
Deputy Terry Guentert took a report of a burglary which occurred in the Cistern/Flatonia area. The case remains under investigation at this time.
Sgt. Ben Wilson and Deputy A.J Gonzales assisted with a pursuit that entered Fayette County from Gonzales County. Gonzales was able to successfully deploy spike strips, disabling the fleeing vehicle. Four occupants were taken into custody and released to the Seguin Police Department. Gonzales also took a report of an assault which occurred in the Waldeck area.
Deputy Herman Olvera took a report of a male subject in a black BMW that was waving a gun at another driver on Interstate 10 near Flatonia. The suspect was located and is facing charges of Deadly Conduct.
Deputy Austin Moore assisted Flatonia Police Sgt. Tunis with a disturbance which led to the arrest of a female subject for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. A male subject was also arrested for a Felony warrant out of Pardons and Parole.
Deputy James Ulbig took a report of criminal mischief which occurred at a church in the Plum area. Ulbig also took a report of fence damage which occurred in the Cistern area.
Deputy Duane Meagher made contact with an employee at the Smithville hospital in reference to an assault that occurred in Muldoon. Meagher obtained statements and information from both parties and the case remains under investigation at this time. Meagher was dispatched to a residence in La Grange in reference to a parking complaint in which a trucking company parked a trailer home on someone’s property causing damage to the property. The company was contacted and their insurance information was obtained for the victim. Meagher also took a report of a death inquest which occurred in the Schulenburg area. An investigation was conducted and the death was ruled that of natural causes.
Detective Kenn Kretz assisted the Texas State Fire Marshalls with the investigation of an explosion which occurred at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hostyn, Texas. The incident remains under investigation at this time.
Deputy Joe Gonzales responded to a residence in the West Point area in reference to an ATV accident. Deputies were able to lift the roof of the ATV off the elderly female who was then treated by EMS. Gonzales also took a report of a runaway 17 year old. Gonzales was able to locate the juvenile who was released back to the parents.
Deputy Michael Krenek took a report of estray cattle. The cattle were picked up and taken to the Flatonia auction barn. The owner was later located and was able to identify and retrieve their cattle. Krenek also took a report of theft which occurred in the La Grange area. Case remains under investigation at this time.
Deputy Holly Smith took a report of property damage which occurred in the Engle area. Smith served a Criminal Trespass Warning as well as an incident report for Criminal Mischief. Smith was dispatched to an accident in the La Grange area. After further investigation, one male subject was arrested for possession of methamphetamine. Smith was also dispatched to an address in the La Grange area for a disturbance. After further investigation, one subject was charged with Criminal Mischief.
Deputy Jared Michalec stopped a vehicle in the Carmine area. After further investigation, the driver was found to be in possession of a handgun and a felony amount of marijuana. The driver was arrested without incident. Michalec was dispatched to the Warda area in reference to a one vehicle crash. After further investigation, the female driver was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.
Deputy Seth Nagel stopped a vehicle in the La Grange area. The driver was found to be in possession of a felony amount of marijuana, a handgun and THC products. The driver was arrested without incident. Nagel also stopped a vehicle in the Plum area. After further investigation, the driver was found to be in possession of marijuana and ecstasy and was arrested.
Deputy Orlando Buitron stopped a vehicle in the Ellinger area. After further investigation, the driver was found to be in possession of cocaine and several firearms. The driver was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon. Buitron also stopped a vehicle in the West Point area. The driver was found to be in possession of cocaine and was arrested.
Deputy Lee Phillips responded to the fire at the Hostyn Church and took the initial report. Multiple Fire Departments, State and Federal Agencies responded to the scene. Phillips also responded to a structure fire in the Round Top area. A report was taken and the case remains under investigation.
Deputy Dustin Kieshnick stopped a vehicle in the Flatonia area. After further investigation, the female driver was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance. Kieshnick also assisted with the pursuit that entered from Gonzales County where four suspects were taken into custody.
Jail Administrator Ed Sawyer reports that Fayette County Correction Officers booked in 76 individuals for the month of June. Sawyer reports that the Jail Staff transported 7 individuals to Texas Department of Criminal Justice Facilities throughout the State to being serving their sentences for crimes committed in Fayette County.
