Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on activities of Fayette County Sheriff Deputies for the month of December 2022.

Detective Marc Bennett is actively investigating 19 cases involving Child Protective Services. Bennett is also investigating a Theft case which occurred near La Grange.

Sgt. Ron Naumann took a report of a burglary that occurred in the Carmine area in which storage units were broken into. The case remains under investigation at this time.

Sgt. Ryan Meagher stopped a vehicle in the Engle area for a traffic violation which resulted in the arrest of the passenger for possession of cocaine. Meagher also stopped a vehicle near Schulenburg in which a pursuit ensued and the suspects were throwing narcotics from the vehicle. Both occupants were arrested on numerous felonies. Meagher stopped another vehicle near Schulenburg and the driver was found to be intoxicated. The driver was charged with Felony DWI due to having two previous convictions.

Deputy A.J Gonzales received information regarding two vehicles that just committed a robbery in Cedar Park. Gonzales along with other FCSO Deputies located the vehicles. The vehicles were stopped and four subjects were arrested. Custody was transferred to the Cedar Park Police. Gonzales also responded to an 18-wheeler fire in the West Point area. The fire was extinguished by the La Grange Fire Department. The driver was not injured.

Deputy Herman Olvera took a theft report which occurred in the Muldoon area. Deputy James Ulbig took a report of property damage which occurred in the Schulenburg area.

Deputy Duane Meagher responded to a call of a female passed out inside of a vehicle. The vehicle ran out of fuel and was stopped in the lane of traffic. The female was arrested and transported to the jail. Meagher also took a report of a missing elderly female from La Grange. The female was entered into NCIC as a missing person. The following day the Katy Police Department located the female and she was reunited with her family.

Detective Kenn Kretz responded with the Narcotics Unit and FCSO Deputies with a standoff in the Freyburg area. The standoff ended and the suspect is facing numerous charges. Kretz along with other members of CID and FCSO Deputies stopped two vehicles involved in a Robbery in Cedar Park. The suspects were arrested and custody was turned over to Cedar Park PD.

Deputy Joe Gonzales responded to the Engle area in reference to an unresponsive driver in the roadway. After further investigation the driver was taken to an area hospital for medical treatment and is expected to be okay. Gonzales also took a theft report in which a trailer was stolen. The trailer was entered into NCIC/TCIC as stolen.

Deputy Holly Smith and Jared Michalec responded to a residence near La Grange in reference to a domestic disturbance. Deputies were given information that the suspect had fled the scene. Michalec located a vehicle matching the description given by the victim. The vehicle was in fact the suspect vehicle and the suspect was detained. Smith made contact with the victim and after further investigation the suspect was arrested for Assault Family/ Household Member w/ Previous Convictions and Theft of Property. Smith was also dispatched to a civil matter near Flatonia, After conducting an investigation it was determined both parties were to be separated and a Criminal Trespass Warning was issued to one subject involved.

Deputy Jared Michalec stopped a vehicle in the West Point area for a traffic violation. The driver of the vehicle was found to be in possession of cocaine and was arrested.

Deputy Seth Nagel stopped a vehicle near La Grange. The driver of the vehicle had an active warrant for Parole Violation Aggravated Robbery. Nagel also located a handgun in the glove box. The driver was arrested and placed into custody for the warrant and Unlawful Possession of Firearm by Felon.

Deputy Lee Phillips was dispatched to a residence in the Fayetteville area for a death inquest. After further investigation, the death was determined to be of natural causes. Phillips was dispatched to the Carmine area in reference to a burglary and a stolen vehicle. A report was completed and the vehicle was later recovered in Jasper, Texas.

Deputy Dustin Kieshnick met with a complainant in reference to a vehicle burglary. A report was completed and the case is under investigation. Kieshnick also responded to a fight at a local bar. One subject received medical treatment and charges are currently pending.

Jail Administrator Ed Sawyer reports that Fayette County Correction Officers booked in 62 individuals for the month of December. Sawyer reports that the Jail Staff transported 12 individuals to Texas Department of Criminal Justice Facilities throughout the State to begin serving their sentences for crimes committed in Fayette County.
