Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek Reports on December Activity

Sheriff’s Report

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports activities of Fayette County Sheriff Deputies for the month of December 2023. Sgt. Angela Lala is investigating a case in which a sex offender failed to notify the Sheriff’s Office they moved residences. The case is ongoing at this time.

Sgt. Ryan Meagher responded to a report of a disturbances with weapons at an apartment complex in La Grange. Meagher located a vehicle leaving the scene that was involved in the disturbance. The subject was arrested for Possession of Marijuana and Resisting Arrest/ Search/Transport. Meagher also responded to the LCRA Powerplant in reference to a trespasser. One subject was arrested for criminal trespass of a critical infrastructure.

Deputy James Ulbig responded to an address in the West Point area in reference to an unattended death. Ulbig along with Fayette County EMS arrived on scene. The death was ruled accidental.

Deputy Terry Guentert took a report of a burglary that occurred in the Schulenburg area.

Deputy Cody Williams along with Deputy Meagher assisted the Texas Rangers with locating a murder suspect which was residing in Fayette County. The suspected was located and arrested. Deputy Williams responded to a disturbance in the Schulenburg area. One of the subjects involved had an active felony warrant for his arrest out of Houston. The subject was arrested without incident.

Deputy Meagher responded to an address near the Kirtley area in reference to a domestic disturbance. After further investigation, a male subject was arrested for assault causing bodily injury family member.

Deputy Jason Fowler was called to a domestic disturbance which occurred near La Grange. The suspect involved fled from deputies in a vehicle. A pursuit ensued and the male was arrested after tire deflation devices were used to disable the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect was arrested on numerous charges including assault and evading arrest. Fowler also responded to another disturbance just outside the city limits of La Grange. One female subject was arrested for public intoxication.

Deputy Jared Michalec took a report of a stolen trailer in the Ledbetter area. The trailer was entered as stolen and a report was completed. The case remains under investigation at this time. Michalec also took a report of a stolen vehicle which was taken from a gas station in Ellinger. The victim left the truck running at the pump and a subject got into the vehicle and drove off. The victim was able to track his vehicle which was located in Belton. A male subject was found with the keys in his pocket near the vehicle and was arrested.

Deputy Joe Gonzales took a report of criminal mischief which occurred in the West Point area. Victims stated their mailboxes and trashcans were ran over. A report was taken and the case remains open at this time. Gonzales also took a report of phone harassment. The case remains open at this time pending further investigation.

Deputy Wesly Arrison responded to an apartment complex near La Grange in reference to a domestic disturbance in which the suspect fled the scene. The suspect was located shortly after and arrested. Arrison also stopped a vehicle near La Grange in which the driver was found to be intoxicated. The driver who was under the age of 21 was arrested for DUI. Arrison also responded to a domestic disturbance off FM 154. A male subjected was arrested as a result of the disturbance.

Deputy Mark Pritchard was dispatched to a call of a male subject walking down SH 71 possibly intoxicated. Pritchard located the male who was found to be intoxicated and in possession of marijuana. The male was arrested without incident.

Deputy Ty Roggenkamp took a report of an assault which occurred in the Flatonia area. A male suspect was charged with felony assault. Roggenkamp also responded to a disturbance in the La Grange area in which a male subject was holding a weapon and would not put it down. The subject threatened the deputies with the weapon. The suspect eventually threw the weapon and deputies attempted to arrest the subject at which point a struggle began. During the struggle the suspect attempted to take Roggenkamp’s duty gun from his holster but was unable. The suspect was arrested without further incident.

Jail Administrator Holly Smith reports that Fayette County Correction Officers booked in 60 individuals for the month of December. Smith reports that the Jail Staff transported eight individuals to Texas Department of Criminal Justice facilities throughout the State to begin serving their sentences for crimes committed in Fayette County.
