Fayette County retired teachers “studying” Bingo cards at May meeting. -
On May 8, the Texas Retired Teachers Association District 13 Spring Conference was held in San Marcos. Attending from Fayette County were Karen Fitch, Esther Hartman, Lisa Slinkard, Melanie Mica, and Chris Morrison.
Members of the Fayette County Retired Teachers’ Association met on Monday, May 13, with fourteen in attendance. The Fellowship Time was hosted by Kathy Migl, Debbie Morrill, and Jeanne Wetjen. Book Raffle item was donated by Marian Tajchman.
The Business portion of the meeting included approval of the March 2024 minutes, and presentation and approval of the treasurer’s report. Treasurer Chris Morrison reminded all that dues need to be paid by July 1. (Can be paid by mail, or at the June meeting) Also, she said that dues (regular - $35, plus local - $5) that are automatically taken from bank accounts – members still owe $5 for local dues. She stressed that all checks need to be made out to TRTA . There were no committee reports.
New Business:Asummary of the TRTA 2024 State Convention (April 15-17, Corpus Christi) was given. Attendees were Lisa Slinkard, Melanie Mica, Chris Morrison. A summary of the District 13 Spring Conference (May 8, San Marcos) was given; attendees were Lisa Slinkard, Melanie Mica, Chris Morrison, Esther Hartman, Karen Fitch.
Drawings: There were no new members; the Retention Member Drawing was won by Terri Wagner, who also won the Raffle Book Project item.
The meeting concluded with several games of Bingo, with Wal-Mart gift cards as prizes. Winners were Peggy Halamicek, Joan Miertschin, Marian Tajchman, Jackie Elliott, and Jeanne Wetjen. The next meeting will be on Monday, June 10, at Robert’s Steakhouse 1241 SH-95, Flatonia, the meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m.
