Brooks Kelly, a Fayetteville city councilman and former standout shot put track athlete at UT, was the keynote speaker Saturday. He talked about his rise from walk-on at the school to collegiate All-American.

Fayette County Longhorns Celebrate Texas Independence Day

Recent La Grange High School graduates and current UT students Ella Wick, left, and Cole Stork right, talked at the event about what the Texas Exes scholarship and the association has meant to them.

UT distinguished alum and Festival Hill founder James Dick spoke to the crowd reminding them to “never dream the ordinary.”

The Fayette County Texas Exes association again held their annual Texas Independence Day celebration March 2. This year’s event was held at Festival Hill in Round Top.
