Fayette Co. Sheriff Korenek Reports on Recent Activity
Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on activities of Fayette County Sheriff Deputies for the month of April 2024.
Sgt. Ron Naumann took a report of fraud in which a suspect called the victim and impersonated a bank employee. The victim provided the suspect with their login credentials. The victim’s bank account was emptied and the money was transferred to a fraudulent and untraceable account.
Sgt. Angela Lala investigated a case where a sex offender moved and did not notify the Sheriff’s Office as required by law. Lala also assisted CPS with a report of neglectful supervision.
Sgt. Ryan Meagher conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near Ellinger for an equipment violation. The driver was found to have an active warrant out of Killeen for Assault Causes Bodily Injury/Family Household and was arrested. Meagher also stopped a vehicle in the La Grange area. The driver was found to be in possession of several kinds of narcotics. The driver was charged with Tampering with Evidence, Endangering a Child and two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana.
Deputy Cody Williams took a report of damage to property which occurred in the Muldoon area. The victim stated a vehicle ran through a newly built fence. The case remains mains under investigation.
Deputy James Ulbig responded to a call near Muldoon in reference to damage to property. After furher investigation, one male subject was arrested for Criminal Mischief.
Detective Kenn Kretz investigated a theft of Amazon Package which occurred in the Cistern area. The suspects were identified and charged.
Deputy Joe Gonzales met with a victim in the lobby of the Sheriff’s office in reference to bank fraud. A report was completed and the case remains under investigation at this time. Gonzales also responded to a report of a deceased person in the Smithville area. It was learned the deceased was under the care of a hospice nurse and the cause of death was determined to be terminal illness.
Deputy Jason Fowler took a report of criminal mischief which occurred on Geohring Road.Areport was completed. Fowler arrested a subject on a felony warrant out of Fayette County for Deadly Conduct. The subject was booked into the Dan R. Beck Justice Center without incident.
Deputy Jared Michalec was dispatched to a suspicious vehicle in the Round Top area which was left abandoned. A check of the vehicle’s VIN number showed the vehicle to be stolen out of Austin. The vehicle was impounded and the owner was notified his vehicle was recovered. Michalec took a report of a boat that was abandoned. Michalec attempted to locate an owner but was unsuccessful. Michalec notified the County Commissioner to have the boat removed.
Deputy Seth Nagel responded to a gas station in the Ellinger area in reference to a female throwing chairs in the seating area. The female was arrested for Public Intoxication.
Deputy Wesly Arrison responded to a domestic disturbance near Schulenburg. After further investigation a male subject was arrested for Assault Causes Bodily Injury Family/Household. Arrison conducted a traffic stop in the Kirtley area. The passenger admitted to tampering with evidence and was arrested.
Jail Administrator Holly Smith reports that Fayette County Correction Officers booked in 47 individuals for the month of April. Smith reports that the Jail Staff transported one individual to Texas Department of Criminal Justice Facilities throughout the State to begin serving their sentences for crimes committed in Fayette County.
