No one will argue there’s a lot of “stuff” along Hwy. 237 in Round Top and Warrenton right now. Whether or not it’s “cool” depends. Are you there to buy or sell? Or are you just trying to drive through? The Fall Antiques Show kicked off this past weekend in Northern Fayette County. Besides all the traffic, many locals are taking notice at the proliferation of permanent commercial buildings related to the antiques trade, along with the dizzying pace of real estate transactions. Local artist and Fayetteville resident Pat Johnson told the Record about a conversation she recently had along those lines. “Someone was asking how to find out when property in Round Top goes up for sale,” Johnson recalled. “Because they heard about one that had sold, but it wasn’t listed. Somebody else replied, ‘Oh, don’t worry about the listings. Everything’s for sale in Round Top. You just have to ask.’” Photo by Andy Behlen
