Faith Lutheran Music Students Honored

These three students at Faith Lutheran High School competed at the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) Music Competition, hosted by Concordia University in Austin on Friday, March 24. Each chose a piece from the UIL Prescribed Music List and performed it before a professional judge who critiqued their tone, style, presentation, mechanics and interpretation of the piece.

Each performing musician is judged on a scale of 1 to 5, 1 being the highest. Timothy Meyer, a junior, received a rating of 1 (Superior) on his French Horn presentation of “Adagio” by Grazioli. Kaydee Schoeder, a junior, received a rating of 2 (Excellent) as she performed the vocal solo “The Water is Wide” arranged by Althouse. Mason Messer, sophomore, received a rating of 2 (Excellent) for his drum snare solo, “Diddle City” by Freytag.

The students will also perform for the public at the school’s Spring Thing! concert on Wednesday, May 10, at 7 p.m. at the school. Faith Lutheran High School is located in Warda, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church just off Highway 77 between La Grange and Giddings. Principal is Mrs. Nikki Kueck and Music Director is Mr. Dan Schaefer.
