Fair President Pleased With This Year’s Turnout
The Fayette County Fair Association has not yet calculated attendance numbers from the Fair last weekend, but Association President Michael Zuhn said he was pleased with the turnout.
“We feel it was really good,” Zuhn said. “We know we had a really good Thursday and Friday. We’re really pleased. The weather was a little warm, but the evenings were really nice.”
Plans are already underway for next year’s fair. The Fair Association hopes to build a new German-Czech Mart and food court for next year.
“We are in the process of it,” he said. “We’re still working on some plans. We have to figure out the power lines and infrastructure under the ground. The engineering for the foundation should be done any day now and after that we will bid the building.”
Zuhn praised the Fair Preview, a new event this year that took place the weekend before the Fair, which included the barbecue cookoff, car show, and many of the agricultural exhibits.
“I was a little apprehensive at first, but I think it works,” he said. “It took a little stress off of some things. We’re going to build on it.”
