Expired Registration Leads to Controlled Substance Charges
On Friday, Feb. 24 at approximately 11:47 p.m. Sgt. Ryan Meagher stopped a 2015 Toyota Camry near La Grange for an expired registration (3/22). Meagher asked the driver to exit the vehicle due to the driver possibly being impaired.
After speaking with the driver, he admitted to Meagher there were narcotics inside of the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted and the following was located: 4.75 oz. of psilocybin mushrooms, 26 vape cartridges containing THC, 11 containers containing THC wax, 3.25 ounces of marijuana.
The driver was identified as Brett Nixon, 24 of Houston, and he was arrested and transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center and charged with two counts of manufacture/deliver controlled substance and possession of marijuana.
