Events Rescheduled Due to Winter Weather

Winter weather hit Warda last weekend and caused several area events to be rescheduled.

• The Wendish Society Annual Scholarship Fundraiser has been postponed due to the recent weather. The new date for the fundraiser meal is set for Feb. 1.

• GEMS (Girls Embracing Mission Service) meeting was postponed due to the recent temperatures. Look for more information on the rescheduled meeting soon. Girls in grades 5-12 are invited to attend.

Chili, Cook Off and Auction 

St. Paul Lutheran in Serbin will be the site of a fun Chili Supper, Cook Off and Auction on Sunday, March 1. The fun begins at 4 p.m. There will be a silent auction, bake sale, live auction and a meal served from 5-7 p.m. Limited meal tickets are available at the door. $7 for cup of chili, or 2 hot dogs. There will also be a chili cookoff with check in at 1 p.m. Contact the school at (979) 366-9650 for more information or to register your cookoff team.

South Lee County VFD 

South Lee County Volunteer Fire Department will have BBQ chickens on Sunday, Feb. 22. Pick up will be from 10 a.m.-noon at the Serbin Picnic Grounds. Chickens are $12 each and 16 oz. cups of sauce, pinto beans, and noodles are $3 each. Order by Monday, Feb. 16 by calling (979) 366-9650.

Spring Break Day Camp 

Camp Lone Star in La-Grange Spring Break Day Camp will be March 9-13, designed for campers age 5-13 years old. Lifequest will be March 20-22, for grades 6-8. Summer Camp registration, for campers age 5-18 is open. Register at

New Family Open House 

St. Paul Lutheran in Serbin will have a Community and New Family Open House on Feb. 19 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. You will have the opportunity to tour the school, view their small class sizes, and discuss all they have to offer.

Sewing Circle 

The Sewing Circle meets each Thursday from 9 a.m.noon in the old parish hall at Holy Cross in Warda. This is around the back side of the church. No experience is necessary and you do not have to be a church member to join this fun group. Contact the church office at (979) 2423333 if you have any questions.

Game Day at Holy Cross 

The next Game Day at Holy Cross in Warda will be held Thursday, Feb. 19 from noon-2 p.m. A light lunch is served. There is no cost to attend and everyone is welcome. Games of bingo and dominoes are offered.

Holy Cross Services 

Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.

Any new student who registers for FLHS prior to Friday, March 6 will only pay $100 in registration fees.

Everyone is invited to join the weekly Chapel Worship Service each Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.

Faith Lutheran High School is participating in the Texas Education Freedom Account (TEFA) program beginning with the 2026-2027 school year. This is the Texas School Choice program. They will be hosting an informational session on Thursday February 5 at 6:30 p.m. to help families learn more about TEFA, receive guidance through the application process and more. All families are encouraged to attend.

Faith Lutheran High School Spring Raffle is just around the corner. The Board of Directors have put together an amazing slate of items. Tickets are $20 each and the drawing will be held the week of March 2-6, during National Lutheran Schools Week. A limited number of tickets will be available.
