Employee Cut at Butcher Shop

An employee at Legacy Custom Meats on SH 71 east of La Grange was hospitalized Friday morning, Jan. 6, after suffering a serious cut at work.

Fayette County EMS Director Josh Vandever said the employee sustained a cut to his leg from a butcher knife.

“The patient and their coworkers did an excellent job controlling the bleeding until EMS arrived,” Vandever said.

Vandever said the patient’s hemorrhaging was manageable when medics arrived. They transported him to a trauma center in Austin. Vandever said he expects the patient to recover.
