The 86th Tomato Festival will be held Friday, May 26 through Sunday, May 28.

Friday-Margarita and Chips and Salsa, Entree and Dessert contest plus Round One of Chopped Challenge and Entertainment by The Broken Spokes from 8:3011:30 p.m.

Saturday-Tomato Trot 5K Fun Run, BBQ Cookoff, Farmers Breakfast and Bloody Mary Contest, Final LIVE Chopped Challenge Showdown, raffles, face painting, and a live auction at 7 p.m. followed by The Bandits.

Sunday-Homemade Chamber Fried Chicken and Sausage lunch drive through starting at 10:30 a.m. Check out ellingertexas. com for more information.

Raffle tickets are now for sale for the Tomato Festival from members, directors or at Koehl’s in Ellinger. The drawing is on Sunday, May 28 at 1:30 p.m. and only 1,000 tickets will be sold. All proceeds go to the community center restoration, local scholarships and community improvements.

Shared Lutheran Ministry St. John Lutheran Church would like to thank all those who contributed to the recent bake sale and hot dog sale this past Saturday. Thank you to those that baked items, donated supplies for hot dogs, volunteered, bought hotdogs or baked goods, etc. The event was successful although it rained most of the morning.

Worship services are still offered on Facebook, You Tube and KTIM 89.1 on Sundays at Noon. Ellinger has worship every Sunday at 8 a.m. with communion.

Vacation Bible School

The Shared Lutheran Ministry will have Vacation Bible School in Rutersville the week of July 24.

Central Texas Food Bank Central Texas Food Bank Truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at the junction of FM 1291 and FM 2145 on Saturday, May 20 from 10-11 a.m. Food distribution will be walk up method. Volunteers will distribute the food from tables as the clients walk thru the line making their selections. Every client needs to bring their own sturdy reusable bags and boxes. Wagons will be furnished by CTFB. The Waldeck food truck is on the 3rd Saturday of each month from 10-11 a.m.

LGISD

The last day of classes for students will be May 25.

Brethren Church

Fayetteville Brethren Church has services the second, third, and fourth Saturdays of each month at 10 a.m. Other services are at Industry Brethren on the second, third and fourth Saturdays at 5 p.m., Wesley Brethren on Sundays at 9 a.m. and Nelsonville Brethren on Sundays at 10:15 a.m. Rev. Mike Groseclose leads all the services. The Nelsonville service is live streamed on Nelsonville Brethren’s Face book page.

Hermann Sons Camp

Hermann Sons Camp open house will be on June 10 in Comfort. Both the boy’s and girl’s camp will be open from 9:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Attendees can tour the camp, talk with staff members, have lunch and take part in activities. The pool and challenge course will be open. Lunch will be from 10:30 a.m. to noon at no cost. RSVP is not required but helpful in planning lunch. Please email Ian at ianb@hermannsonslife.org.
