Ellinger Grads; Tomato Festival this Weekend
Brody Schoettlin, graduate from Fayetteville High School is the grandson of Donnie and Janda Fritsch. He plans to attend Blinn following graduation. He was awarded scholarships from Hawes & Prasifka, Brandi Nicole Schiller Memorial, and Fayetteville Lions Club.
Jordyn Hunger, graduate from Fayetteville High School is the daughter of Shawn and Amanda Hunger and the granddaughter of Greg and Debbie Hunger and Brian Fowler and the late Patsy Fowler.
Jordyn signed a letter of intent to rodeo for Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas. She will compete in breakaway and team roping events. She was awarded the Hawes & Prasifka, Ellinger Chamber of Commerce, Fayette County Fair Association, Fayetteville Lions Club, Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, Team High School Rodeo Association, Region IX High School Rodeo Association, ROPE/ SG2C Scholarship, Sul Ross University Rodeo Team, and San Antonio Livestock Show & Rodeo Scholarships.
Jordyn celebrated with friends and family on Saturday, May 18, at the Ellinger Chamber of Commerce Hall. A fried fish meal was served with a table of appetizers and desserts. The dining hall was beautifully decorated with pictures of Jordyn’s award and memorabilia. Belt buckles and jackets were on display along with a table to write a special note to her or highlight a Bible verse in her Bible.
87th Annual Tomato Festival
The 87th Annual Tomato Festival is starting on Friday, May 24 with the cook-off and entertainment by Broken G Karaoke from 8:30-11:30 p.m.
On Saturday the cookoff will continue and music will be provided by The Bandits. There will be a live and silent auction and the Chopped Challenge Showdown. Live auction to start at 7 p.m. Also on Saturday will be a 5K fun run and tomato toss contest.
Sunday will conclude with a fried chicken and sausage drive through meal starting at 10:30 a.m. Meal consists of buttered potatoes, green beans, and sauerkraut. Raffle ticket winners will be drawn on Sunday.

Shared Lutheran Ministry
Pastor Jen Kinsvatter’s installation will be on Sunday, June 2 in Rutersville. Service will be at 4 p.m. and meal to follow. Come welcome Pastor Jen to SLM.
Tea Party and Brunch
Ladies of every age are invited to a special Tea Party and Brunch at St. John in Rutersville on June 22.
SLM Bible School
Shared Lutheran Ministry VBS will be in Rutersville the week of July 22. This day camp will be led by Lutherhill staff. More details to come. There will not be a monthly Sunday school for the months of June, July and August.
Shared Lutheran Ministry Worship services are still offered on Facebook, You Tube and KTIM 89.1 on Sundays at noon. Ellinger has worship every Sunday at 8 a.m. with communion.
Brethren Church
Fayetteville Brethren Church has services the second, third, and fourth Saturdays of each month at 10 a.m. Other services are at Industry Brethren on the second, third and fourth Saturdays at 5 p.m., Wesley Brethren on Sundays at 9 a.m. and Nelsonville Brethren on Sundays at 10:15 a.m. Rev. Mike Groseclose leads all the services. The Nelsonville service is live streamed on Nelsonville Brethren’s Facebook page.
Recycle Trailer
The Fayette County Recycle trailer will be on the chamber grounds on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 29.
