Easter Sunrise Service To Be Held on the Bluff

When the sun first rises above the horizon in La Grange at 7:17 a.m. on Easter Sunday, the sounds of prayer and praise will be heard on the Bluff above La Grange.

The La Grange Area Ministerial Alliance will again hold an Easter Sunrise Service at the Kreische Brewery/ Monument Hill State Historical Site, starting at 7 a.m.

“Everyone is invited to come to this short non-denominational sunrise service,” said Scott Elliott, president of the local ministerial alliance. For more than two decades, numerous local churches have participated in the community- wide service.

A sunrise service is a timehonored Easter tradition for many churches and believers. It reflects the Bible passage in Luke 24, “on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb” and the words “He is not here, but has risen.”

“We will be gathering in the darkness, so it would be a good idea to bring a flashlight as well as your lawn chair,” Elliott suggested.
