Early Voting Starts Monday
Early voting in municipal and school board elections will begin on Monday, April 24. Election day is Saturday, May 6. Details for each election are listed below.
City of La Grange
In the City of La Grange, incumbent Councilman Arthur Bosque will face Chris Jernigan for a seat representing Ward 4. All of the other candidates are unopposed:
• Mayor – Jan Dockery (incumbent) • Ward 1 – Katie Gross (incumbent) • Ward 2 – Ken Taylor
• Ward 3 – Bonnie Busch (incumbent) Early voting takes place at the Fayette County Elections Office in the Meadows Building (275 Ellinger Rd.) from Monday, April 24 through Friday, April 28 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Monday, May 1 and Tuesday, May 2 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Voting on election day takes place at the City Hall Council Chambers (151 E. Colorado St.).
City of Schulenburg
The City of Schulenburg will hold two contested elections. Four people have filed to run for Mayor:
• Elaine Kocian (incumbent)
• Jake Berger
• Connie Koopmann
• Robert “Armen” Herzik.
Two candidates will face off for Place 2 on the City Council:
• Frank “Butch” Wick III
• Tina Bohlmann.
There will be a special election to fill an unexpired term for Place 3, and two candidates have filed for that seat:
• Scott Stoner
• Douglas Behlen Incumbent Alderman Greg “Wolf” Thomas is unopposed for Place 1.
Early voting takes place at the Schulenburg Public Library (310 Simpson St.) from Monday, April 24 through Friday, April 28 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Monday, May 1 and Tuesday, May 2 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Voting on election day also takes place at the library.
City of Flatonia
Three at-large seats are up for election on the Flatonia City Council. Four candidates filed for election:
• Travis Seale
• Ginny Sears
• Donna Cockrell
• Pamela Stolarski.
Early voting takes place at the City Hall Council Chambers (125 E. South Main St.) from Monday, April 24 through Friday, April 28 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Voting on election day also takes place at City Hall.
Town of Round Top
Three at-large seats are up for election on the Round Top Town Council. Five candidates are running for those seats:
• Amy Bone (incumbent)
• Jeanette Burger
• Karen Duddlesten
• Cameron LePee
• Judith Vincent Early voting takes place at the Town Office (202 N. Live Oak St.) from Monday, April 24 through Friday, April 28 from 8 a.m. to noon, and on Monday, May 1 and Tuesday, May 2 from 8 a.m. to noon. Voting on election day takes place at the Courthouse on the Town Square.
City of Fayetteville
There will be no contested elections for the City of Fayetteville. The incumbent mayor, Mike Stroup, is running unopposed. Three seats are also up for election on the Council, but they are all unopposed: • Place 2 – Cade Burkes (incumbent) • Place 4 – Kelly Brooks
City of Carmine
Three seats on the Carmine City Council were up for election this year. The election will be cancelled because only the incumbents filed and they are all running unopposed:
• Place 1 - Rhonda Meeks (incumbent)
• Place 3 - Bobby Sharp (incumbent) • Place 5 - Anita Drydale (incumbent) City of Ellinger
In the City of Ellinger, the positions of mayor and one city commissioner were up for election this year, but only the incumbents filed: Matt Mikulenka for Mayor and Joe Lamer for commissioner. Accordingly, the election will be cancelled.
Schulenburg I.S.D.
Five candidates will run for the three seats up for election on the Schulneburg I.S.D. Board of Trustees.

There were no contested elections in the other school districts in Fayette County.
La Grange I.S.D.
Two seats were up for election on the La Grange I.S.D. School Board. There will be no election because only two candidates filed:
• Place 4 - Gary Drab (incumbent) • Place 5 - Curt Harbers Flatonia I.S.D. will not have a contested election for school board this year. Two seats were up for election this year and only two candidates filed: Place 4 - Ashley Beeman Place 5 - LaVerne Dornak (incumbent) Fayetteville I.S.D.
Fayetteville ISD will not hold a contested election this year, either. Three seats were up for election and only the incumbents filed:
• Place 1 - Lisa Simpson (incumbent) • Place 4 - Kayla Kaspar (incumbent) • Place 5 - Colby Havel (incumbent)
Round Top-Carmine I.S.D.
The same goes for Round Top-Carmine I.S.D. Three seats were up for election and only the incumbents filed:
• Place 3 - Michael Sacks (incumbent)
• Place 4 - Brandon Pieper (incumbent)
• Place 5 - Carl Schobel (incumbent)
