Early Voting Brisk Here
Early voting in the Nov. 8 General Election started on Monday, Oct. 24. According to the Fayette County Election Office, 1,313 ballots were cast in the first two days of early voting. That number amounts to about 7.37 percent of registered voters, and includes both in-person voting and mail-in ballots. Early voting and mail-in ballots will not be counted until Election Night.
This year’s ballot includes only one contested local election – the County Judge race. Republican Dan Mueller faces Libertarian candidate William Martin. The biggest race on the ballot is that for Governor. Incumbent Republican Greg Abbott faces Democrat Beto O’Rourke, along with third-party candidates Mark Tippetts of the Libertarian Party and Delilah Barrios of the Green Party.
Other elections of local interest include the race for the local State Senate District and the race for the local State House seat. Incumbent Republican Lois Kolkhorst faces Democrat Josh Tutt for State Senate District 18. In the State House race, Republican Stan Kitzman faces Democrat Larry Baggett and Libertarian Michael Miller to represent District 85. Early voting in Fayette County takes place at the Fayette County Elections Office, located in the Meadows Building at 275 Ellinger Rd. in La Grange.
Early voting hours are:
• Monday, Oct. 24, through Friday, Oct. 28, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.;
• Saturday, Oct. 29, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.;
• Sunday, Oct. 30, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and
• Monday, Oct. 31, through Friday, Nov. 4, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. There are 17,807 Fayette County voters registered for this election.
