Drunk Driving Suspected in Easter Crash
A wreck on Easter Sunday left one man injured and another in jail on suspicion of drunk driving.
The crash happened at the intersection of Franklin and Live Oak Streets in La Grange near Fayette Public Library around 6:35 p.m.
Donald Wayne Daniels Jr., 33 of La Grange, was driving a black 2008 Jeep Patriot west on Live Oak St. Nicanor Fuentes, 70 of La Grange, was driving south on Franklin St. in a silver 2013 Toyota Tundra pickup. The Toyota failed to yield the right of way at the intersection. The Jeep struck the Toyota in the intersection.
According to a report from La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath, Daniels suffered non-life threatening injuries. He was transported by private vehicle to St. Mark’s Medical Center for Treatment. Two passengers were in the vehicle with Daniels, a 31-year-old female and a nine-year-old child. Neither of the passengers were injured.
Gilbreath said police conducted a field sobriety test on Fuentes and arrested him for suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Fuentes was carrying a passenger who was not injured, Gilbreath said.
