Drinking Habits

Fayette County Community Theatre’s newest production, Drinking Habits will be May 5 and 6 starting at 7 p.m. and May 7 at 3 p.m. Enjoy this laugh out loud comedy at the Sanford Schmid Amphitheater on the grounds of the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center located at 250 W. Fairgrounds Road, La Grange. Tickets are on sale at faycotheatre.com or at the box office at 120 S. Washington off the La Grange square.

The La Grange High School Class of 2025 will be hosting a car wash fundraiser to help raise money for their class at St. James Episcopal Church across from H-E-B from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 6.

Muldoon Museum

The Muldoon Museum building will be open to the public on Saturday, May 6 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Lunch & Learn

Crawfish Fundraiser

On May 5 starting at 6 p.m. until sold out, a crawfish and shrimp boil fundraiser for the Juneteenth on the Square organization will be held at Mac’s Daqs. $15 Donation and a to-go option is available. Contact Mosley Rhodes for more information (979) 7029441.

There’s more Zilss Hall, located at the corner of Memorial Hall Road and FM 153 in Winchester, will be the site of the first monthly Winchester Farmer’s Market this Saturday, May 6 beginning at 8:30 a.m. Vendors will be selling crafts, homemade food items, plants, eggs, and locally grown produce until noon. Divided America Seminar

Whether politics, race, religion or income, Americans seem deeply divided and often angry with each other. Dr. Jeremie Beller will speak on “Living As a Christian in a Polarized World” at a seminar Saturday morning, May 6, at the La Grange Church of Christ. The seminar is open to all, but particularly those concerned about navigating society’s growing divisions. Starting at 9 a.m., the seminar is free and pre-registration is not required. Dr. Beller earned his PhD in communication and social influence from the University of Oklahoma, with academic work focusing on religion and racism, civil religious discourse and terror management theory. Chairman of the Department of Bible at Oklahoma Christian University, he also will preach at the 10 a.m. service on Sunday, May 7. The church is located at 646 E. Hwy. 71 Business.

Industry Brethren Fund Raiser

Industry Brethren Church will host its 32nd annual fund raiser on Sunday, May 7 at Industry Fireman’s Hall. A barbecue beef and sausage meal will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Meal tickets are $15. Dine in or enjoy your plates to go. Gospel singer Jerry Kramer will perform from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Auction will begin at 12 p.m. A raffle for guns and gift cards will also be held. Tickets may be purchased from any church member or at the fund raiser. Enjoy the silent auction and homemade desserts.

Mayfest at Holy Rosary Church

Queen of the Holy Rosary Church, Hostyn, located 6 miles South of La Grange off Hwy. 77 will have Mayfest on Sunday, May 7. Mass at 10 a.m. outdoors under the tent. Hostyn style dinner 11 a.m until 1 p.m. Barbecue pork and sausage and all the trimmings $14. Drive thru available 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Hamburgers available after 3 p.m. Games, country store, cake wheel, plant wheel, drawings and a silent auction. Bethlehem Lutheran Church will be hosting a community worship service and dinner on Sunday, May 7 at the Round Top Rifle Hall. Join for a wonderful day of fellowship, food and fun. The day begins at 10 a.m. with a rousing outdoor service featuring the Hilltop Ramblers from Greenvine. After the service, starting at 11 a.m., the congregation youth will host a fundraiser dinner. They will be serving pulled pork barbecue sandwiches with coleslaw and chips. Serving will continue until 12:30 p.m., or when the delicious food runs out. A sweets table will provide lots of choices for a fine dessert. The fun continues with the announcement of the winners in the exciting multi-prize raffle. Country Music Monday

Country Music Monday will be held May 8 at the Lee County Senior Center located at 165 W. Austin Street in Giddings from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. Ken Brothers and George Hernandez will play. This is a free will donation.

Retired Teachers to Meet

The Fayette County Retired Teachers’Association will meet on Monday, May 8 at the Fellowship Hall of First United Methodist Church, located at 1215 Von Minden in La Grange. Social time will be at 1:45 p.m. followed by a Fellowship Gathering with a recipe swap and tasting. Bring a favorite recipe and a printed copy, in small portions for all to enjoy. A recap of the “Day at the Capitol” will be discussed, along with the upcoming District Leadership Conference on May 11. Those who have not yet paid their yearly dues are encouraged to do so at this time. All retired public school personnel are welcome to attend, even if from another city, county, or state. American Legion, Auxiliary Meeting The American Legion Post No. 102 and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, May 10 at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive at the Fayette County Fair Grounds in La Grange. Members are encouraged to attend to discuss regular business matters. New potential members are invited to attend. A light meal will be served following the meeting.

LMS Community Projects Open House Join La Grange Middle School for a come and go event at the La Grange Middle School Gym on Friday, May 12 from 8 to 9 a.m. to see all the amazing things La Grange Middle School 8th graders have accomplished in the community this year. Bluebonnet Trails Community Services and AccentCare Hospice are hosting a Lunch and Learn Series beginning on May 18 in the Bluebonnet Trails Conference Room from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., 750 W. Travis St. in La Grange. The topic for May will be proper skin care during the Summer months. No charge to attend and lunch will be provided.
