Diocese Shuffling Some Area Priests
Bishop Brendan Cahill of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Victoria announced new priestly assignments, and a couple of those involve St. Rose of Lima Parish in Schulenburg and its mission churches. The new assignments are effective July 1.
Rev. Anthony Augustine Owusu-Peprah, who has served as Parochial Vicar at St. Rose, has been appointed Parochial Administrator of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Bay City. Father Augustine will relieve Rev. Gabriel Espinosa, who had been the pastor in Bay City. Father Gabriel will serve as a sacramental supply priest within the Diocese, according to the Bishop’s announcement.
Rev. Shane Goertz has been appointed to take Father Augustine’s place as Parochial Vicar at St. Rose. Father Shane, who was ordained last May, had been serving as Parochial Vicar at Sacred Hearth Catholic Parish in Hallettsville.
The mission churches of St. Rose include St. John the Baptist Church in Ammannsville, Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in High Hill, and St. Wenceslaus Mission in Holman.
Elsewhere in the diocese:
• Rev. Jonas Kuubeta was relieved of his assignment as Parochial Vicar at The Cathedral of Our Lady of Victory in Victoria and appointed Parochial Administrator of St. Joseph Church in Inez.
• Rev. Barnabas Kyeah was relieved of his assignment as Pastor of St. Joseph Church in Inez and assigned Parochial Vicar at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Victoria and its mission, La Capilla de Santísima Trinidad in Victoria.
