Deputies, Officers Attend Texas CIT Association Conference
Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that several deputies and local police department Officers were able to attend the Texas CIT Association conference this past week.
The conference focuses on the intersection of mental health and the criminal justice system and brings together Peace Officers and Mental Health Professionals from across the state to network, share knowledge and ideas, and receive advanced training on mental health and crisis intervention.
The conference covered a number of topics such as Threat Assessment, Community Policing, Leadership courses, and dealing with mental health and stress issues for officers themselves.
The costs to attend the conference were covered by County Attorney Peggy Supak and by funding from the Fayette Community Foundation and Red Door Fund for Mental Health through a Community Impact grant applied for by CIT Inv. Castleberry.
