Stray Gathering Cowboy Church continues to create a praise and worship team. They would love to give a young Christian artist a chance to use his or her God given talent for this growing church. Any one interested is encouraged to come out on any given Sunday morning starting at 9:30 a.m. and talk to Pastor Butch. Then join in the morning worship service that begins at 10 a.m.

The Ladies’ Bible Study, Sweet Tea and Scriptures, had to cancel their planned February meeting due to the winter weather that was predicted for the area. They will be meeting again in the near future, but for the safety of all the ladies they decided to meet at a warmer time.

Chris Leviton is planning on leading a “Women of the Bible” study, covering both the lesser-known and familiar figure and their interactions. A workbook is available through Amazon. Chris is seeking feedback, so come to church on Sunday mornings to give your feedback and more details will be coming out as they are determined.

Darling Interment

Herman Bruce Darling’s ashes were laid to rest next to his wife Cynthia Darling in Pitman Cemetery on Saturday, Jan. 17. Bruce was 83 years old and had deep Muldoon roots. He passed away on Aug. 16 in Jacksonville, Fla. where he had been living with his son and daughter in law, Brad and Debbie Darling. The family and friends gathered following the service at the Muldoon Mercantile for an afternoon of remembering all the love and laughter that Bruce had brought into their lives.

Bruce was the son of the late Herman and Ruth (Ivy) Darling. He grew up in Smithville and spent a lot of time in Muldoon on the family hog farm and at his grandparents’ home. Bruce was a Texas A&M graduate, class of 1965, and he went on to serve in the Army and earn a Bronze Star Medal. Bruce and Cynthia were married in 1966. He traveled the world selling nuts and bolts for BOSCO Fastening Service Center out of Dallas before accepting a postion with Porteous Fastener Company as Vice President of Materials Management, for which he traveled the world visiting over 425 factories.

Bruce is survived by two daughters; RuthAnne Wyble and husband Steven of Woodstock, Georgia; and Amy Darling of Minden, Nevada, and one son Brad Darling and wife Debbie Darling of Jacksonville, Florida. Along with one brother, Larry Darling and wife Sherry of Gardenerville, Nevada; and a sister-in-law, Violet Darling of London, Ontario Canada.

Out and About

Roberta Gullick was out and about, traveling to Liberty to help out long time friends. She helped out her friend Pam Castell who has Parkinson’s while her husband Randy had two stents put in to correct a 90 percent blockage.

James, Bobby and I enjoyed a visit from cousins, RuthAnne and Steven Wyble of Georgia and Brad and Debbie Darling of Florida came in to spend a little time catching up while they were in for their dad’s interment service. It was nice to stop and spend time with family.

Grandson Reports to Navy Roberta Gullick’s grandson Jeremy Young reported to Naval boot camp in Chicago, Illinois. He signed with the Navy last November, but did not take him in this program till now. He is studying air plane maintenance.

Cold Weather

At the time of this writing the Muldoon area is preparing for some cold temperatures to come in over the last weekend of January. Please take time and check on your neighbors to make sure they survived the frigid temperatures or if they need a little help recovering from this arctic blast.

Slow Down

It is the heart of winter and that does mean that the ranchers in the area will be out and about feeding their livestock. Be aware that tractors with large hay bales will be on the roads. Slow down and be aware that they cannot move fast and their vision may be blocked as you are passing.

Also be aware of the traffic flow, especially the haul trucks, coming through Muldoon. They are flying. Pay attention and stay safe.
