Cowboy Church in Muldoon Planning Food Drive

The Stray Gathering Cowboy Church is hard at work in the community. They are planning an upcoming food drive on Sunday, Sept. 3 for the hungry in the area. This is a great way to join in. Bring a can good to church and stay for a great service. The fellowship starts at 9:30 a.m. with coffee on Sunday mornings, and then morning worship begins at 10 a.m. They welcome any and all who wish to find out what is going on next to the park or that just are looking to find a church to call home.

SG2C is also in the process of starting plans for a Fall Festival. This sounds like a fun way for the community to come together and have a good time. Stay tuned for more details as they become available.

Boehnke Obituary

Virginia Boehnke passed away suddenly on Aug. 17. Virginia was a very active Muldoon community member. She was a founding member of the Muldoon Museum, where she worked tirelessly and a member of the Muldoon Volunteer Fire Department. Virginia was also very active on the family ranch where she and Harold raise cattle.

Virginia retired to Muldoon with husband Harold Boehnke in 2001. She had worked in the Lolita Post Office as Postmaster for 20 years. When they came to

Muldoon, she did not slow down, just shifted gears and plowed into making Muldoon into a better place. She helped to create the museum with other interested community members to save some of Muldoon’s history from being forgotten, and she worked hard to get the old Muldoon Courthouse placed on the list of historical places.

Virginia is survived by her husband of 58 years, Harold Boehnke; a daughter and her husband, Kim and Tony Miori; a son and his wife, Guy and Catherine Boehnke along with four grandchildren and one great grandchild.

A celebration of life was planned for Saturday, August 26, at Zion Lutheran Church in Moulton at 10 a.m. A private inurnment is planned for a later date.

Rain

Muldoon experienced a little rain this past week. Eight hundredths fell in the area, though it might not seem like much, it was the first moisture that has fallen in months. This summer has been very hot and very dry in the area. This rain fall did settle the dust for a little bit and many are still hard at the prayers for more of this most needed moisture.

Conditions are very dry and many in the area have already started to feed the cattle that they have not already culled down. Tanks in the area are getting very low. Please take extra caution when out and about as not to accidently start a fire with a spark from a chain on a rock or a hot piece of equipment over some of the crispy grass.

Out and About

Joan Ivy’s sister, Judy (Wetjen) Jordan, stopped in for a visit. Judy was on the way to the Texas A&M University campus to deliver some items to her daughter, Elizabeth Jordan, who is a student there. Judy and Joan had a nice visit, and Joan hopes Judy stops by every time she travels to College Station.

Jennifer and Clay Rightmer had both their children visit over the weekend. Lane Rightmer arrived from the Waco area to spend a little time with her parents. Reed Rightmer also did a quick Muldoon check-in from Houston where he is attending college and just needed a little country air.
