County Talks Land, Sells Old Tractors

In other business from last Thursday’s Fayette County Commissioners Court meeting:

Radio Station

The Court approved an application for the division of real property from John Haworth for the KVLG/ KBUK radio station property. Haworth wants to divide the 13.10 acre tract into two tracts: a two-acre property around the radio station building and an 11.10 acre tract for the adjacent storage unit business.

County Judge Dan Mueller recused himself from the discussion and vote because he holds an ownership interest in the radio station. Before the meeting, Judge Mueller filed a conflict of interest affidavit for the item. The Court approved the property division.

Old Tractors

The Court also signed a resolution authorizing the sale of salvage or surplus property belonging to the Pct. 4 Road and Bridge Department. The equipment included three tractors and two pickup trucks. Pct. 4 Commissioner Drew Brossmann said one of the tractors was a newer model, but it has suffered from several mechanical problems. Brossmann said he crew managed to keep it running for shredding season last year, and now he’s ready to replace it.

“And if you look at the other two tractors, you could drive them in anybody’s parade along with the antiques and they would fit right in,” he said. The two pickups were 2006 and 2008 Ford F-150s with high mileage, Brossmann said.
