County Recognizes FEC’s 85th Anniversay

Fayette County Commissioners Court signed a proclamation last Thursday recognizing Fayette Electric Cooperative for its 85th anniversary. The Co-op started in 1937 with a handful of local residents who wanted to bring electricity to the rural areas of the County. Today FEC serves 10,199 members and maintains over 15,634 meters and over 2,969 miles of power lines in Fayette, Bastrop, Lee, Washington, Austin, Colorado and Lavaca Counties. On-hand of the signing were (back, from left) FEC General Manager Gary Don Nietsche and Marketing and Training Coordinator Tracy Denton, along with (seated) Pct. 4 Commissioner Drew Brossmann, Pct. 3 Commissioner Harvey Berckenhoff, County Judge Joe Weber, Pct. 2 Commissioner Luke Sternadel and Pct. 1 Commissioner Jason McBroom.
