Construction Around the Courthouse

Contractors started work last week on Texas Department of Transportation’s project to improve pedestrian safety on State Highway 71 (Travis St.) in La Grange. Workers removed concrete curbing on the north side of the street in front of the courthouse. It will be replaced with a concrete wall and landscaping. The wall was designed to discourage pedestrians from jaywalking across Travis St. to and from the courthouse. The project also involves improvements to the crosswalks at both ends of the block in front of the courthouse. Photo by Andy Behlen
