Concrete Boxes Filled in on Courthouse Square

The much-maligned concrete planters boxes along Travis St. in downtown La Grange are finally looking good. The city of La Grange Public Works Crew spent last week filling the boxes with fresh gravel, soil, and new Red and White Yuccas all the way down. The boxes had stood empty for years as leaders debated what to do with the structures that were built by the state as a way to try to get pedestrians to use crosswalks instead of crossing in the middle of the busy street. La Grange resident and gardener Tim Patrick was instrumental in the project.
