Community Easter Egg Hunt Saturday in Fayetteville
Come hang out at the Square for three big festivities taking place this weekend. All ages are welcome to pop into the Fayetteville Annual Community Easter Egg Hunt, kicking off at 10 a.m. on Saturday. In addition to a special appearance by the Easter Bunny, enjoy a bounce house, refreshments (including hot dogs and snow cones), plenty of prizes and sweet surprises. Cookie Lady Ride
The Cookie Lady Ride honoring the late Yvonne McGowen is on Sunday beginning at 9 a.m. The ride offers three different loop lengths: eight, 14 and 22 miles and combines them for longer rides. Enjoy homemade cookies. Helmets are required. Anyone under 18 must ride with an adult.
For over 20 years, Yvonne’s devotion to the community included baking 5,000+ cookies annually for the Good Old Summertime Classic Bike Ride. The event is free and the McGowen family welcomes everyone to participate. Free will donations are appreciated for the Fayetteville Museum and the Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department.
Speaker Series
Fayette County resident and eclipse expert, Peter Farrow will speak as part of the Fayetteville Community Center’s Speakers Series on Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Fayetteville Community Center and Performance Theater in the Square. The event is free.
A veteran eclipse chaser, he has witnessed 17 solar eclipses, advocating for “totality” as a profound, multisensory experience rather than a mere visual one.An Ipswich, England native and electrical engineer, Farrow moved to Texas in 1967. At his Fayetteville home, he built a “folly”— a barn-guesthouse designed to resemble a church, inspired by a 16th-century landmark from his English childhood.
Animal Supply Drive
The Fayette County Texas Exes are seeking donations to support the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter. These items can be dropped off no later than March 31 at Joe‘s Place, Orsak’s and Roots and Branches in the Square: bleach, window cleaner, disinfectant wipes, latex gloves, 409/Lysol disinfectant cleaner, paper towels, 35-gallon trash bags, 55-gallon heavy-duty (2 mil) trash bags, puppy pads, copy paper, Post-it notes, dry erase markers, and Sharpies. Lake Fayette
Cabins and campsites are busting out all over at Lake Fayette with all the activity from the antiques show and Spring Break. Over 50 were in attendance for the movie, “Friday the 13th.” Live and frozen bait and munchies are now available at the gatehouse. Kevin White, General Manager, just returned from Kansas and is headed to Michigan to discover more about the hospitality business.
St. Paul Lutheran
St. Paul Lutheran holds services on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. Services are recorded every week, rotating among four Shared Lutheran Ministry churches and posted on the Facebook page for the Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County. Services are also featured on KTIM 89.1 Sundays at noon.
St. John the Baptist Catholic
St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville holds Mass Saturdays at 6 p.m., and Sunday’s at 10 a.m.
St. Mary Catholic Church St. Mary Catholic Church in Ellinger holds Mass on Saturdays at 4 p.m. and Sunday’s at 8 a.m.
Fayetteville Brethren
Worship services at Fayetteville Brethren are held on the second, third and fourth Saturday of every month at 10 a.m. An adult Bible Study is held before the worship service from 9 to 9:45 a.m.
