Vandever has worked directly with the last two Fayette County Judges across multiple policy and operational areas — helping shape county strategy, develop sound public policy, and advocate for Fayette County at the state and federal levels. Unlike others in this race, he already knows the job, understands the issues facing our county today, and is prepared to lead from day one. In fact, he’s already working to address them, every day.

Fayette County government must serve all residents with fiscal responsibility and sound planning. Vandever has managed county-level operations through inflation, natural disasters, and healthcare challenges — delivering results while staying under budget every year since 2020. Recently appointed to the Governor’s Emergency and Trauma Advisory Council, he brings proven experience in strategic planning and is committed to thoughtful, long-term stewardship across county services.

UNDERSTANDS THE PEOPLE

Born in Fayette County, Josh started his career as a first responder here and returned home to raise his family. Josh and his wife Kristen, a 4th generation resident, are active in both their church and community, teaching their kids Haley and Mason the importance of faith, service, and stewardship. They want for future generations what Fayette County has always offered: a safe, strong community rooted in faith, family, and a high quality of life. It is vitally important that the County Judge is a reflection of the community they serve. Josh supports responsible growth and common-sense policies that protect our county’s character while preparing it for the future.
