Colonel Lori Thurman Tapley Retires After 25 Years Service
Colonel Lori (Thurman) Tapley (FNP) recently retired from the United States Army Nurse Corp with 25 years of military service.
Lori graduated from La Grange High School in 1994 where she enjoyed playing in five sports programs, resulting in letters in basketball, volleyball, softball, track, and Cross Country and was a regional qualifier in track.
She received her BS in nursing from The University of Incarnate Word (San Antonio) in 1998, and her Masters from The Military Unified University of Health Sciences at Bethesda Naval Medical Center in Maryland in 2006.
Lori was commissioned as an Army Nurse Corp 2nd Lieutenant 1998 via the Army ROTC Program. During her Army tenure, she commanded many medical programs culminating her career as the Director of Primary Care Services at Landstuhl Regional Center, Medical Regional Command Europe. One of her favorite commands was where she served as Executive Of-ficer of a 19 member surgical mission in 2019 to Honduras to correct birth abnormalities in children. She also was deployed to Al Asad Air Base in Iraq during the Iraq conflict.
Lori plans to split her retirement time at her recently purchased home in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico and at her finance’s home in San Antonio. Lori is the daughter of G.R. and Twila Thurman of La Grange.
