Cleanup at LG Plastics Underway

Local businessman Joe Rogers purchased the old La Grange Plastics property on Colorado St. He began cleaning up the property last week.

At their meeting last Monday, The La Grange City Council voted to begin condemnation proceedings against the property over health and safety concerns. The plant burned in a fire back in January, and the previous owner made no progress on removing the debris.

La Grange City Manager Fred Bell told the Record last week that a potential buyer was interested in the property. He said the City wanted to proceed with condemnation in case the purchase fell through.

Rogers called the Record this Monday to report that he purchased the property as an investment and began cleanup. Rogers owns and operates Joe Rogers Dozer Service, a construction and demolition company. Rogers said he has no immediate plans to develop the property.
