Chili Cook-Off Saturday Benefits Round Top Family Library; Winter Antique Show this Weekend

On Saturday, come out to the Stone Cellar for the 18th Annual Round Top Family Library Chili Cook-Off. Beginning at noon, come try delicious chili, join in on the auction and dance to music by the Black Cat Choir. Tickets are $10, and children under 12 are free. While you’re there, vote for your favorite team’s chili to win. All proceeds benefit the Round Top Family Library.
Also this weekend is the Winter Antique Show. Shop several vendors through Sunday and enjoy all Round Top has to offer.
Gerald Butler will perform at Busted Oak Cellars Friday, Jan. 20 from 6-9 p.m. Frank Martin Gilligan performs Saturday from 3-6 p.m. Bingo night is Thursday, Jan. 26 at Open Mic Night is Friday, Jan. 27.
Risky Liver Band will play at The Stone Cellar Friday, Jan. 20 beginning at 7 p.m. Over at the dance hall, catch Denverado’s Cowboy Disco Ball with DJ Melodic at 7:30 p.m. On Sunday, catch Season Ammons at 550 Market beginning at 12 p.m.
An art show sponsored by Art at the White House on the Hill will be set up Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on the Round Top Courthouse Square. Texas Artist come together at Art at The White House on the Hill every Tuesday to paint and create in different mediums. Come and join us for this diverse show and meet some of the artist offering large and small art. Come and check it out.
Wednesday, Jan. 25 come out for 2023 Lunch and Plan at Popi Burger with the Round Top Chamber. This event is from 10 a.m.–12 p.m. Bring your thoughts and ideas to help plan out ways to promote and attract more business to the town of Round Top. Cost is $10 and includes a lunch.
Round Top Rifle Hall
Monday night hamburger socials have concluded this month, but will start up again Feb. 6, 13 and 20. Come out from 5:30-8:30 p.m. for dinner, drinks and great conversation. The signature menu item is a delicious, hearty hamburger, fixed just the way you like it. The Rooster is a breaded chicken sandwich with a tangy “special sauce.” Hotdogs or chili dogs are another favorite, along with fries or onion rings.
Saturday, Feb. 10, RTRH welcomes back Mollie B and Squeezebox. This amazing, talented young woman combined her musical talents with those of her husband, Ted and friends Dana and Joe, to put on a high energy show that is fun for those of all ages. Doors open at 4:30 p.m., music starts at 6 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door – but be sure to get your tickets before they sell out. An evening meal of Roast beef, grilled chicken, sides and dessert will be available for $15. You’ll need to make reservations for food, so be sure to do that asap by calling (979) 966-7375 or (979) 249-7335.

Round Top Family Library The Round Top Family Library is open Monday from 1:30-5:30 p.m., Tuesday-Thursday from 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Closed on Sundays.
Yoga is Mondays at 5 p.m., Art After School is Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:30 p.m., Chess Club is Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m., and Kids Garden is Thursdays at 4 p.m.

Students are out for a Professional Development day Monday, Jan. 30.

Mark your calendars for the Round Top Carmine Education Foundation’s annual Small School, Big Hearts fundraiser to be held Feb. 4 at the Round Top Rifle Hall. The evening will consist of dinner, auction, games and a family dance party. Dinner is served 5-6 p.m. All proceeds benefit local students in Round Top-Carmine schools. Historical Society
The Round Top Area Historical Society museum has free admission every second Saturday of the month from 1-4 p.m. Take the opportunity to view three historical homes and a historical church. Festival Hill
“The Great Shed Show” continues to the general public through this Sunday until 4 p.m. along with shopping with select Arbor dealers. While browsing, take a break to enjoy a light lunch selection at Café Caffeine at the lower Chapel on the Plaza. Staying true to the Arbors tradition, stick around and enjoy Happy Hour each day from 3-6 p.m. with live music and drinks while you shop. Parking is always free. The annual Valentine’s Concert/Library Fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 11. This year it will be The Art of the American Song: A Tribute to Dick Smith. The 2 p.m. concert benefits the Festival Institute’s Faith P. and Charles L. Bybee Library and Study Center. On Tuesday, Jan. 24 at noon, historian Mike Vance will present “Selections from Mike Vance’s Historical True Crime in Texas.” This talk is based on his book “Murder and Mayhem” in Houston and will highlight several famous cases found in his book.
