Instructor David McCall will offer chess classes at the Weimar Public Library starting May 28.

Chess classes will be offered to young and old beginning May 28 at the Weimar Public Library. Classes will meet every Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m.

Following the chess class, instructor David McCall, will also teach a Hapkido class beginning at 11:30, allowing for students to have a 30 minute lunch break if they want to attend both events.

Chess Master McCall has offered his services as an instructor free of charge for the past three years at both the library and at St. Michael School because McCall, a former educator and counselor, believes in the many benefits of chess, like improvement in memory, concentration, and problem-solving. He promotes the game as a wonderful way for parents and children to bond.

In addition, students can attend McCall’s Hapkido class, a soft form of martial arts, which he will offer at the Weimar Public Library beginning Tuesday May 28 from 11:30 a.m. until noon.

It is important to register by calling the Weimar Public Library at (979) 725-6608.
