CDA Court Annunciation No. 1962 Meets
The Catholic Daughters of the Americas No. 1962 held their monthly meeting on Monday, April 22. Regent Shirley Antosh opened the meeting with prayer followed by pledges to the US and Texas flag led by Vice Regent Sherry Hebert. The charter was draped during the meeting in memory of our deceased member, Anita Proske, who passed away on March 30, 2024. She was a member for over 42 years.
The minutes were read by Corresponding Secretary Carolyn Weishuhn and were approved as read. Judy Evanicky gave the Treasurer’s Report; it was approved as presented. National, state, and local correspondence was shared, the reading of the bills was presented and all approved, and members were updated on current membership.
Under Leadership, Priest Appreciation gift ideas were discussed and determined. In the absence of Membership Chairman Stacy Ryza, Regent Antosh reported on the reception of new members on April 14 at our Court’s 58th Anniversary and Family Dinner. Congratulations and welcome to our new members: Griselda Albiter, Nicole Ramirez, and Adriana Veitch.
Spiritual Enhancement Chairman Mary Lou Anderle informed members of dates of First Communion and gifts to be given.
Doris Lidiak briefly reported on the nursing home treats taken to Jefferson Place during April. She expressed her thanks to CDA members who donated for the goodie bags and JCDA’s help in delivering to residents each month. Sherry Hebert, Legislation Chairman, gave members a handout on “Operation Morningstar” and shared information regarding upcoming elections. The Texas State Court Memorial Enrollments Report was given by Suzanne Peschke.
The Memorial Report (Deceased Members) and the Local and Memorial Scholarship Report were given by Elizabeth Kallus. Sixteen scholarships were awarded to deserving high school seniors.
In the absence of Peggy Supak, Regent Antosh briefed members on JCDA activities. Please keep collecting the ring tabs for the Ronald McDonald House. New JCDA officers will be installed at the May meeting.
Under Unfinished Business, Elizabeth Kallus gave a final report on the Family Dinner and 58th Anniversary of our Court held on Sunday, April 14. She thanked everyone who helped in any way and all those who were able to attend. Regent Antosh reminded interested members of details regarding CDA at the Park on June 1 with theAstros.
Under New Business, Mary Lou Anderle, on behalf of the Nominating Committee, presented the Slate of Officers. Elections will be held at the May meeting on Monday, May 27. Regent Antosh thanked those members who assisted in the Semi-Annual Financial Review on Wednesday, April 17: Dawna Faldyn, Beverly Kruppa, Barbara Kalina, Belinda Flippen, Donna Neiser, Renee Supak, April Feray, and Karen Janda. Regent Antosh also brought up the National CDA Convention to be held in New Orleans, Louisiana, fromAugust 14-18. Delegates attending, activities planned, and further details were discussed. Rosa Galipp, District Deputy #11, briefly commented on the wonderful Family and Anniversary Dinner and thanked the Court for her gift.
The next meeting will be held on May 27. The annual May Social will begin at 6 p.m. with a light meal to be served. The business meeting will follow at 6:30 p.m. CDA State Scholarships will be presented to winners. Officers will be elected and installed. Donations will be collected for AMEN Food Pantry.
After the closing prayer led by Vice Regent Hebert, Regent Antosh adjourned the meeting. Attendance prizes were then awarded.
