Caughman Wins $1,000 as Whataburger Teacher of the Year
La Grange Middle School math teacher Michelle Caughman won the 2024 “Whataburger Teacher of the Year Award,” and has been awarded Whataburger merchandise along with $1,000.
It’s not a surprise she won this year, considering the amount of appreciation her students have for her. According to former students, Adeline and Harper Griffin, Ms. Caughman is “Attentive, she makes you feel proud of yourself when you’ve done something correctly, she’s patient when you need help, and she understands when students want to be social.” and that she “understands kids, she explains what she’s teaching indepth and gives students credit when they deserve it”.
According to Adeline and Harper, Mrs. Caughman deserves the award because “She’s a very hardworking teacher and connects with kids in a way that no other teacher knows how to,” and “she’s good with her students, and she made me love my least favorite subject.”
When asked what she loves about La Grange Middle School, Mrs.Caughman says that she loves the teachers and staff and feels like she belongs as a middle school teacher.
