    Carmine VFD Serves Over 2,100 Fried Chicken Plates

The Carmine Volunteer Fire Department’s annual Fundraiser held July 16 was a great success. Over 2,100 plates of fried chicken were served. They also sold over 1,600 tickets for the drawing.

The firemen appreciate all the support they received by those who helped plan the event, prepare the meal, set up for the serving line, bought meals and tickets, and supported it in any other way.

RT-C School News

RT-C FFA officers attended the Texas FFA Convention in Dallas the week of July 10.

Mallory Krause received her Lone Star Degree on July 12 at the convention. This is the highest degree awarded at the State level in FFA.

Other officers attending were Emme Dallmeyer, Jenna Hardaway, Kim Rohde, Jill Eilers, Tess Eilers, Emma Baird, Carter Marburger, and Avery Nelius, along with their sponsor, Mr. Erich Schatte.

RT-C Elementary Meet the Teacher will be held on August 10 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the elementary school in Round Top.

The RT-C administrative offices will be open through Aug. 3 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Teachers will haves a workday on Aug. 7 and 15. Inservice days are Aug. 8-11 and Aug. 14. Students return for classes on Aug. 16.

Child Find – development screening for preschool age children will be held on Aug. 8-9 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the Round Top-Carmine Elementary School in Round Top. Contact Kristi Hess at (979) 249-3200 for more information. Casino Night

Mark your calendars for the “Wild Wild West Casino Night” on Saturday, Aug. 12, sponsored by the Carmine Chamber of Commerce. Dinner tables for eight are available for $500. A correction is that individual tickets are $50. Contact (979) 451-1507 for choice of donation such as sponsoring a gaming table, donating items and gift certificates for gaming prizes, other costs and to reserve a table. Tickets will not be sold at the door.

Saturday worship with Holy Communion is at 6 p.m.

Sunday School is Sunday at 9 a.m.

Sunday worship with Holy Communion, observing the Ninth Sunday after Pentecost is at 10 a.m. The Rev. Jen Kindsvatter will lead the Saturday and Sunday services. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.

Meals on Wheels

Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels with Combined Community Action meet every Wednesday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church Mission and Ministry Building located at 250 Augsburg Ave., Carmine, TX 78932.

Come early to play dominoes and enjoy the camaraderie. Hours are 9 – 11:30 a.m.

Food usually arrives about 10 a.m. and is for pick-up only until 11:30 a.m. There are five meals in a box along with milk, dessert and bread. Cost is a donation of $10, which makes it $2 per meal. It is for seniors age 60 and up.

Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fridays and Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Recycling Trailer

The recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.

Accepted are clean #1 and #2 plastic (please separate them, and note that #5 plastics are not accepted), dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, all colors glass, steel food cans and aluminum cans. Attendants are available to help unload.

The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30-11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.
