Carmine Chamber Names Business, Citizen and Volunteer of the Year

RT-C School News 

Round Top-Carmine High School baseball team will host Milano on March 17 at 5:30 p.m. Future Cubs will be recognized at the March 17 game. The team travels to Milano on March 20 to play at 6 p.m. A double-header will be played on March 24 at Mumford, with the first game at 4:30 p.m.

March 23 is an early release day, when classes will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m.

Maintenance Appreciation Day was observed on March 6. Mr. Beck was recognized and is appreciated for all the hard work, dedication, and care he puts into the district. From fixing the little things to tackling the big projects, he keeps the campuses running smoothly every single day.

Looking ahead, Jr. High athletes will participate in a track meet at Fayetteville on March 30; while high school will participate on April 2, also at Fayetteville. April 3 and 6 will be holidays.

Condolences 

Sympathy is extended to the family of Charles Mueller, Sr. who passed away on March 1. He, along with his wife Charlene, owned C & C Drive Inn in Carmine for many years, selling fishing bait and drinks. They also served delicious barbecue on Sundays.

Sympathy is also extended to the family of Allyne McGilvra, who died on March 5. She and her husband, Walter, owned and operated a dairy in the Winedale area for many years. She had been an active member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church and the RT-C Mother’s Club.

Mobile Food Pantry 

The Central Texas Food Bank will be in the parking lot of Waldeck Evangelical Lutheran Church on March 21 from 10 to 11 a.m. It is located near the intersection of FM 1291 and FM 2145.

Pick-up will be drivethrough only. Clients are reminded to clean out their cars or trucks to have room for volunteers to place the food. It is for Fayette County residents.

MLLC News 

Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Round Top is hosting all the Lenten worship services for the Crossroads Lutheran Ministry on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. with the Rev. John David Nedbalek leading the services. On March 18, Martin Luther Lutheran Church will provide the meal at 6 p.m.

AA meeting is Saturday at 8:30 a.m.

Sunday School is Sunday at 9 a.m.

Worship with Holy Communion, observing the Fifth Sunday in Lent, is Sunday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Ken Weiss serving as the guest pastor.

Domino party is Monday at 1 p.m.

Meals on Wheels 

Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels with Combined Community Action is on Wednesdays at the Martin Luther Lutheran Church Mission and Ministry Building located at 250 Augsburg Ave. in Carmine.

Come early to play dominoes and enjoy the friendly atmosphere. Hours are 9 to 11:30 a.m.

Five meals come in a box along with milk, dessert, and bread for a donation of $10. This makes it $2 per meal. It is for seniors age 60 and up. Food usually arrives about 10 a.m. and must be picked up by 11:30 a.m. To sign up, come by on any Wednesday morning to fill out the paperwork.
