Camp Shakespeare This Summer To Include Two Local Participants
The 2024 Camp Shakespeare season is coming up and will include two La Grange students.
Holden Mikulin, who just finished 5th grade at La Grange elementary, and Maddox Wick, who just finished sixth grade there, have both been accepted into the program.
Camp Shakespeare is a two-week University of Texas residential summer camp for young people, ages 11-16, dedicated to exploring Shakespeare through performance.
Campers stay at a bed and breakfast in Round Top and rehearse in Winedale and Round Top.
Attendees this year include 29 students from all around Texas and as far away as Arizona and even Rome.
Wick will be part of the cast for the first summer session which runs June 9-23. They will be performing “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at the following times and locations:
• Fri. June 21 at 3 p.m. – Crystal Theatre, Gonzales
• Sat. June 22 at 3 p.m. – Performing Arts Center, La Grange
• Sun. June 23 at 2 p.m. Winedale Barn, Winedale
Mikulin will be part of the cast of the second summer session which runs June 30-July 14. They will be performing “The Tempest” at the following times and locations:
• Fri. July 12 at 3 p.m. Crystal Theatre, Gonzales
• Sat. July 13 at 3 p.m. Performing Arts Center, La Grange
• Sun. July 14 at 2 p.m. Winedale Barn, Winedale Tickets are $10. Children 12 and under are free. For ticket reservations, contact Robin Grace Soto ( robingracesoto@utexas.edu).
