Camp Lone Star to Host Women’s Renewal Retreat

Camp Lone Star will have their annual Women’s Renewal Retreat on Feb. 3-5. The weekend is a time set aside to reflect on Christ and His Word, be in fellowship with other sisters in Christ, and spend time in His creation. For more information, or to register, visit www.camplonestar. org.

Birth Announcement

Derek and Kayli Head of La Grange announce the birth of their daughter, Holly Brynn Head, born Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2022 in Austin. Holly weighed seven pounds, nine ounces and measured 20.5 inches long. Grandparents are Jackie Head and the late DeWayne Head of LaGrange and the late Brenda Palmer of Garland and Rian Steger of Kaufman. Local family members include great uncles and aunts, Wayne and Cathleen Tutt and Alan and Lynn Pyburn, and uncle and aunt, Randy and Myrna Phillips, all of La Grange. Great grandparents are the late Jack and Shirley Pyburn of La Grange, and Bonnie and Christine Head of Irving, the late Edward and Mildred Schmidt of Richardson, and the late Eugene and Mary Lee Steger of Tyler.

Stew Lunch Fundraiser St. Paul Serbin 7th and 8th grade classes will have a stew lunch fundraiser on Sunday, Feb. 5. Pick up will be at the drive-thru of First National Bank in Giddings. Tickets are $12 each and can be purchased at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church office. Proceeds go to their class trip to Washington DC this summer.

Valentine’s Dinner

Tickets are now on sale for the Holy Cross Youth Group Valentine’s Dinner on Saturday, Feb. 11. This will be held in the church’s fellowship hall. There are a limited number of tickets available and are on sale until Feb. 5 or until sold out. Seating will begin at 6 p.m. with dinner served at 6:30 p.m. The meal will consist of choice of creamy chicken bacon ranch pasta or spaghetti with meat sauce, garden salad, garlic bread and cheesecake with toppings. Tea, water and coffee will be served. This fundraiser will benefit youth attending the Higher Things Conference this summer in San Antonio. Tickets are $25 per person and are available in the church office.

Warda Bunch Luncheon The Warda Bunch (supporters of the Lee County Junior Livestock Show exhibitors) will have their organizational/ appreciation luncheon at the Holy Cross Picnic Grounds on Sunday, Feb. 12 beginning at 11 a.m. The committee will furnish fried chicken and members are asked to bring a side dish or dessert to complete the meal. Spring Raffle

The Faith Lutheran High School Spring Raffle is just around the corner. The Board of Directors is currently looking for valuable items or monetary donations to be used in the raffle. Please contact Nikki Kueck at (979) 242-2889 if you would like to donate something.

Wednesday Night Bible Study The Wednesday Night Bible Study Group meets each week at 7 p.m. They are currently studying the book of Judges. There is no cost to join. Contact Cyndy Zoch at cyndy.zoch@gmail.com for more information.

Holy Cross Services

Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.
