Burn Banned Lifted But Caution Urged
The residents of Fayette County are no longer under an outdoor burn ban. The county had been under a burn ban for several months due to the extremely dry conditions. The ban expired March 8 and the Fayette County Commissioners Court met Friday to discuss the possibility of reinstating the burn ban. During Friday’s meeting, the Court voted not to issue a burn ban, but agreed to revisit the subject at the March 26 regular meeting.
“We like the public to use common sense if they decide to burn. If you conduct a controlled burn on your property, please call the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office at (979) 9685856 to let dispatchers know the address of the burn and let law enforcement and other first responders be aware,” said County Judge Dan Mueller.
“We would like to remind everyone that a cold front is forecasted to come through the County Sunday and into Monday and is expected to bring high winds. Never leave a controlled burn alone and make sure you have a water source close by,” said Angela Hahn, Fayette County Emergency Management Coordinator.
