Brune Graduates from Sam Houston State University

Brittany Brune Bell graduated from Sam Houston State University on Aug. 6 with a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Arts and Sciences and a minor in General Business.

Receives Reserve Champion Rilan Karisch raised a bucket calf for the Fayette County Fair this year. He won Reserve Champion Bucket Calf and Champion Showmanship in his age division. There was a costume contest for the Bucket Calf exhibitors and their animals. Rilan, dressed as The Undertaker, and John Cena, his beefmaster cross steer, ended the night as Reserve Champion in the Costume Contest. Rilan won two belt buckles at this contest.

Heifer Show Placements Rheagan and Rilan also participated in the Fayette County Heifer Show held Sunday morning Sept. 4. Rilan landed Reserve Junior Showmanship with his heifer Duchess. Both kids had a class winner with Bellamee and Duchess and made it to the American Breed Division Drive.

Ellinger VFD The Ellinger Volunteer Fire Department will drill on Wednesday, Sept. 21.

Ellinger Sewer and Water The Ellinger Sewer and Water Supply Corporation will hold its regular monthly meeting on Monday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Ellinger Fire Station Shared Lutheran Ministries The Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County, SLM, has scheduled a joint worship, Fall Blessings, for Sept. 18 at 10 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Ellinger. Nov. 6, St. Paul Lutheran in Fayetteville will host an All Saints’ Day joint worship. Additionally a joint worship on Christmas Day will be held at 9 a.m. in Warrenton.

On Sunday, Sept. 18, St. John Lutheran in Ellinger will be hosting a joint worship for the Shared Lutheran Ministry. Pastor Jill Vivroux will be officiating. Worship will begin at 10 a.m. A meet and greet the new interim pastor will get underway at 9 a.m.There will also be a backpack blessing for the kids and adults who have returned to school.

Sunday school for the SLM will be on Sept. 11 from 3-5 p.m. at St. John Lutheran in Rutersville. The lesson will include learning through Bible stories, cooking, games, crafts, science, and music.

St. Mary’s Bazaar a Success Fr. Steve and the parishioners of St. Mary Catholic Church in Ellinger wish to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all who in any way helped to make their 72nd Annual Bazaar held on Aug. 28 a “huge success.” We will donate 10 percent of the profits to the Rebuilding Fund of the Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hostyn.

Fayetteville Brethren Church Fayetteville Brethren Church has services the second, third, and fourth Saturdays of each month at 10 a.m. Other services are at Industry Brethren on the second, third and fourth Saturdays at 5 p.m., Wesley Brethren on Sundays at 9 a.m. and Nelsonville Brethren on Sundays at 10:15 a.m. Rev. Mike Groseclose leads all the services. The Nelsonville service is live streamed on Nelsonville Brethren’s Face book page.
