Broadband Planning Committee Appointed

Fayette County Commissioners Court appointed a broadband internet planning committee at a special meeting last Thursday, May 30.

The appointment will allow the County to participate in the Technical Assistance Program (TAP) from the Texas Comptroller’s Broadband Development Office (BDO). Fayette County Emergency Management Coordinator Angela Hahn said TAP could provide technical and financial assistance to broadband internet providers that serve Fayette County.

The committee will identify areas of the County that lack broadband internet access. The committee must consist of at least one elected official in the County. The Court appointed Pct. 2 Commissioner Luke Sternadel to fill that role. They also appointed Colorado Valley Communications Chief Operations Manager Kelly Allison to the committee, along with Plum resident and local activist William Bernsen, who volunteered to serve.
