Blessing of the Backpacks

St. James Episcopal Church and Preschool had a special Blessing of the Backpacks at their Sunday service. Reverend Merrill Wade invited “all who teach and learn, and all lifetime learners” to bring their tools for a successful year up to the front for a blessing. He also described his spiritual and physical backpack as part of his message to the congregation. Don Kirby (far left), head of the music ministry, led the choir and church in a hymn for students, schools, and teachers. After the service, everyone was invited to enjoy fellowship over Reba’s pizza and ice cream sundaes.
