Big Oak Falls, Crushes Porch in LG

Two massive oak trees fell on property belonging to Kirk and Kim Craig in La Grange on Saturday, May 13. The home is located across from the La Grange ISD Administration offices at the corner of Monroe and Pearl Street. One of the trees came crashing down on the porch and patio area of the home, just missing the main structure. The roof suffered some minor damage. Bubela Tree and Arbor Care of Schulenburg teamed up with Ray’s Crane Service of La Grange to cut up and remove the two trees on Monday. The Craigs estimated that both trees were about 250 years old. The Craigs said they believe the heavy rains last week contributed to the trees falling.
